Michelle Trachtenberg for Coach
Not content to ride out her fame on Gossip Girl, actress Michelle Trachtenberg has branched out. She’s now designing for accessories giant Coach! Coach may be best known for their purses, but Michelle is designing jewelry for it’s younger line, Poppy.
Slated to launch in Spring 2010, Michelle Trachtenberg for Poppy is refined-romantic with attitude, bringing a decidedly punky look to a lush mix of materials and inspirations. Pegged as having a uniquely “Marie Antoinette meets Blondie” quality, the capsule collection fuses Swarovski crystals in light amethyst, black diamond, and clear gemstone colors together with ivory pearls and bold mismatched hardware. A heart-shaped crest and antique key charms are the centerpieces of this ultra-femme and edgy collection; in essence, Poppy is the key to Michelle’s heart. [From Elle]
“Marie Antoinette meets Blondie”? Really? Well, it’s definitely young, and cute. I guess that’s what the Poppy line is.
Definitely not your mother’s Coach.

NY Yankee Mariano Rivera for Canali
Beginning this March, New York Yankee, Mariano Rivera will become for the first celebrity spokesperson for the Canali menswear brand.
[Elisabetta Canali, global communication director] said using a celebrity allows the company to “immediately capture everyone’s attention.” The same will hold true if Rivera makes any appearances on behalf of the brand. Canali said that “depending upon his availability, he will be involved in store events.”
It’s understandable that a celebrity makes a brand instantly recognizable, but why Rivera in particular?
“He is a very positive person, with a great attitude and style,” she said. “He represents excellence in his field and it comes natural for us to look at him as an ambassador of those values we both share.”
Look out for Rivera’s new ads in major magazines this March.
